چکیده
This paper conducted a computational fluid dynamics study of bubbly jets (not bubble plumes due to pure gas injection) in crossflow explore the hydrodynamics that are still unknown. A three-dimensional model was developed, calibrated, and validated by coupling Euler–Euler two-fluid with unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes approach OpenFOAM. The results showed modeled void fraction, velocity, water jet centerline trajectory, expansion agree well experimental data. vertical distribution turbulent kinetic energy evolves from mono-peak dual-peaks as penetrates farther for interactions between bubbles ambient flow. Water velocity examined at cross sections both air- water-phases crossflow, counter-rotating vortex pairs can be clearly observed phases. Generally, center-plane maximum concentration decreases direction. Compared jets, stretched wider direction lift bubbles, thus, dilution is larger. Interestingly, vorticity two “kidney-shapes” axisymmetric “thumb-up-shapes.” Moreover, effects on behaviors were systematically examined. As increases, locations concentration, magnitude, centerline, all tend lower jets.

Direct numerical simulation of round turbulent jets in crossflow
Direct numerical simulation is used to study a round turbulent jet in a laminar crossflow. The ratio of bulk jet velocity to free-stream crossflow velocity is 5.7 and the Reynolds number based on the bulk jet velocity and the jet exit diameter is 5000. The mean velocity and turbulent intensities from the simulations are compared to data from the experiments by Su & Mungal (2004) and good agreem...

متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Crossflow-Transition Control using Pinpoint Suction
Laminar-turbulent transition in swept-wing boundary layers is typically caused by secondary instabilities of steady crossflow vortices (CFVs). So far, suction for laminar flow control (LFC) in three-dimensional boundary layers has been applied to reduce the crossflow and thus the growth of the primary CFV modes to CFVs. We investigate the influence of strong, localized suction (pinpoint suction...

A mathematical model for turbulent gas-liquid flows with mass transfer and chemical reactions is presented and a robust solution strategy based on nested iterations is proposed for the numerical treatment of the intricately coupled PDEs. In particular, the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by a discrete projection scheme from the family of Pressure Schur Complement methods. Nove...

Designing and manufacturing the multiple jets simulator and experimental investigation of the multiple jets in crossflow at low velocity ratios have been studied Together with design and build a low-speed wind tunnel. A specific rake is used to determine the flow field pressure and changes in static pressure measured by pressure taps in the near field of the jets. There are generally three regi...
